Taxpayers hit with $3.4 million bill for Trump’s members-only Super Bowl party at Mar-a-Lago: report
Taxpayers paid millions for President Donald Trump to attend a members-only Super Bowl party at his Palm Beach golf resort in Florida.
Trump’s official schedule listed him at a members-only “Super Bowl LIV watch party” at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach on Sunday while spending the weekend at his Mar-a-Lago resort. The trip cost taxpayers about $3.4 million, according to a HuffPost analysis that included the costs of his Air Force transportation, Coast Guard patrols, Secret Service protection and other expenses detailed in a 2019 Government Accountability Office report on the president’s earlier visits to the property.
“He could have saved money by chartering a plane and flying club members to watch the game at the White House,” Robert Weissman, the head of the progressive watchdog group Public Citizen, told HuffPost.
White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham argued to HuffPost that the report was “ridiculous,” “false” and “just more left-wing media bias.”
“The president never stops working, and that includes when he is at the Winter White House,” she said, even though Trump tweeted a photo of himself golfing a day earlier.
Grisham attempting to out lie her predecessor. So far she’s doing a good job of it.
This is just another drop in the bucket for the record deficit Trump keeps adding to.

Trump Says He Has No Intention of Having Bolton’s Book Read Aloud to Him
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Donald J. Trump has “no intention whatsoever” of having John Bolton’s book read aloud to him, Trump confirmed on Monday.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said that his daughter, Ivanka Trump, had obtained a draft manuscript of the Bolton book and had offered to read it aloud to him “like she does with all of the other books,” Trump said.
“She reads the books to me slowly and stops when there’s a long word to tell me what it means,” Trump said. “But I told her that the Bolton book was the last book in the world that I wanted to hear.”
Trump acknowledged that Ivanka had previously read aloud to him other books that he had not enjoyed, such as “A Warning,” by Anonymous.
“That Anonymous guy has to be the worst writer,” he said. “After Ivanka read ten pages of that crap to me, I told her to throw the book across the room, and she did.”
Trump said that he hears “many books” a week, and that sometimes his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, takes turns with Ivanka reading them aloud to him.
“I’ve enjoyed hearing Sean Hannity’s books and Laura Ingraham’s books,” Trump said. “But John Bolton’s? Please. That’s the last book I want to hear when Ivanka and Jared tuck me in at night.”February 10, 2020 at 16:13 #31280

Trump just cut an annual pay increase to federal employees by 60% and stopped any locality pay increase because rich people aren't gonna get richer without taking food from the mouths of the people who clean the White House toilets. https://t.co/jTYCfOU5fe

Trump calls for slashing funding for toxic Superfund cleanup
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump asked Congress on Monday to slash funding for the Superfund program around the country, despite already building up the biggest backlog in 15 years of hazardous waste clean-ups stalled for lack of money.
Overall, the president proposed cutting $2.4 billion, or 26%, out of the budget for the Environmental Protection Agency. Trump vowed as a candidate to cut all but “little tidbits” of the EPA in a push to eliminate regulations he sees as burdening businesses. As president he has called annually for cuts nearing one-third of the agency’s budget.
Trump’s budget statement to Congress said his latest pared-back budget request for EPA “advances work on key priority areas, while reigning (sic) in unnecessary spending.”
“This budget perfectly reflects President Trump’s views on protecting public health and preventing pollution: He’s against both,” said Ken Cook, president of the Environmental Working Group advocacy group.
Because god knows what this country needs is to keep more toxic sludge in the environment while we add more and more pollution to it.February 11, 2020 at 12:24 #31318
Think about the fact that the president of the United States doesn’t know where the Battle of Concord was fought, had to have aides explain to him what Pearl Harbor is, and didn’t know that there’s a Kansas City in Missouri.

Trump says military may consider disciplinary action against Vindman
President Donald Trump on Tuesday said the military will likely look at disciplinary action against Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, just days after the National Security Council official was ousted from the White House after giving damaging testimony during the House impeachment hearings.
“That’s going to be up to the military, we’ll have to see, but if you look at what happened, they’re going to certainly, I would imagine, take a look at that,” Trump said in response to a follow-up question about what he meant when he said, “the military can handle him.”
So a man follows the oath he took when he joined the military, he earned a Purple Heart (and it wasn’t for bone spurs) so Trump will now do all he can to ruin his life. What a guy.February 13, 2020 at 17:52 #31418
Trump’s story about veteran’s comeback was not quite true
NEW YORK (AP) — Tony Rankins, a formerly homeless, drug-addicted Army veteran, got a standing ovation at the State of the Union after President Donald Trump described how he turned his life around thanks to a construction job at a company using the administration’s “Opportunity Zone” tax breaks targeting poor neighborhoods.
But that’s not completely true.
Rankins, who indeed moved out of his car and into an apartment since landing a job refurbishing a Nashville hotel two years ago, doesn’t work at a site taking advantage of the breaks and never has done so. In fact, he started that job four months before the Treasury Department published its final list of neighborhoods eligible for the breaks. And the hotel where he worked couldn’t benefit even now because it’s an area that didn’t make the cut.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Rankins said he always considered the job that launched him on his new life two years ago to be in an Opportunity Zone and was honored to be invited by the White House to the State of the Union, with a prime seat in the balcony next to Ivanka Trump.
“After struggling with drug addiction, Tony lost his job, his house and his family. He was homeless. But then Tony found a construction company that invests in Opportunity Zones,” the president said in his Feb. 4 speech. “He is now a top tradesman, drug-free, reunited with his family.”
Days later, Trump doubled down on the Rankins story in a speech on his economic initiatives in Charlotte, North Carolina, and invited him up to say a few words.
“First of all, I would like to thank the president for signing this bill, because without it I wouldn’t be standing here before you right now,” Rankins said.
Trump also praised Rankins’ employer, R Investments, for “working to help 200 people rise out of homelessness every year by investing in opportunity zones.”
That is also not quite true.
CEO Travis Steffens said he has hired hundreds of homeless to work at the 400 buildings the company has owned over the years, taking advantage of various tax breaks. But when it comes to Trump’s Opportunity Zone breaks, he said, the company has only one building tapping the program now, a warehouse in Cincinnati where no one seems to be working, homeless or otherwise.
Thus showing that the true state of the union is fucked with the Deceiver in Chief lying to the nation at every turn.February 14, 2020 at 17:40 #31499
Trump just put a 29-year-old fired over allegations of financial crimes in charge of all personnel decisions
John McEntee, President Donald Trump’s body man who was fired in 2018 amid an investigation into allegations of financial crimes, will lead the Presidential Personnel Office, multiple news outlets reported Thursday.
When he was the White House chief of staff, John Kelly forced McEntee out over issues with the young aide’s security clearance. The Wall Street Journal reported that the issues were related to online gambling problems and mishandling of his taxes.
McEntee was also the focus of a financial-crimes investigation by the Department of Homeland Security, CNN reported.
McEntee, 29, who joined Trump’s small team early in his presidential campaign, was escorted out of the White House in March 2018 without being allowed to collect his belongings, including his jacket, The Journal reported.
“It’s not going to be great for morale,” a White House official told The Journal about McEntee’s firing.
The New York Times first reported on Thursday that another Trump aide, Hope Hicks, the White House communications director who left in March 2018, would also return. Hicks will serve as a counselor to the president and report to Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and top White House adviser.
